Ron Deaton was born a twin in a family of nine children in 1945 in Laurel County, Kentucky in a log home overlooking the Little Laurel River. These pioneer beginnings are rooted in his ancestry to the point that he must continue to write about his Appalachian heritage. His first book titled From Whence Cometh Thou is a detailed timeline of the Deaton heritage from the original landing in America to the current time. His second book ‘The Trial of Lessie Johnson” details the struggle of a pioneer family in eastern Kentucky. His professional career as a planner for a major manufacturer combined with a lifetime hunting and exploration of the hills of eastern Kentucky are added to his years of research of his Appalachian family have given him the
qualifications for becoming the expert in the fields of which he now writes.
A reader with an interest in Appalachian family life and its connection with the true pioneers and woodsmen of Kentucky will definitely want to include the writings of Ron Deaton in their Libraries. These writings of pioneer history and family life contain the humor as well as the dedication and seriousness of survival in early Kentucky. Ron plans to continue to write as long as there is a story to be told.
